Local vendors offer Valentine gifts for that special someone

The Pine Island Farmers Market celebrates its first anniversary on January 28th, from 10am to 3pm, in the main barn at the W. Rogowski Farm located at 329 Glenwood Rd, Pine Island, NY.  Goshen resident Evan Teatum looks forward to the market each month as “it is not just an inviting eclectic marketplace, but a friendly place where people gather together to enjoy fresh food and exchange ideas.”
Special gifts with a personal touch will be offered just in time for Valentine’s Day.  Rachel Bertoni Designs of Sugar Loaf, NY will demonstrate jewelry making, creating custom earrings on the spot with your choice of colors.  Candy Apple Shoppe of Glenwood, NJ will have a selection of their handmade candied apples and chocolate confections.
Chef and Author Lukas Volger will be on hand to sign his new cookbook, Vegetarian Entrees That Won’t Leave You Hungry, available for purchase.  From 10am to noon Volger will provide a cooking demonstration and tasting from the book which Publishers Weekly praised for “the beauty of Volger’s approach lies in its simplicity, creativity, and portability”
This month Edge of Knife returns to the market to provide knife sharpening services and sales — bring in your knives to be sharpened.  Winslow Therapeutic Center will offer face painting, with proceeds supporting their important work. Local musician Dan Brother will perform his own brand of soulful blues from 11:30am to 1pm.
